Northern Melbourne · City of Darebin

Web design Reservoir

Reservoir is the most populous suburb in the City of Darebin, with 51,096 residents at the 2021 census, and one of the larger suburbs in Melbourne's north. It is a mostly residential area that has kept its two older shopping strips, Edwardes Street and Broadway, beside Reservoir station, with Summerhill Village to the east, Edwardes Lake Park and the Reservoir Leisure Centre as its main gathering places, and a strip of workshops and warehouses along Newlands Road. Darebin Council has flagged the revitalisation of the Edwardes Street and Broadway precincts, and the suburb is on the proposed Suburban Rail Loop alignment, so local businesses are planning for more foot traffic rather than less.

Reservoir businesses

Businesses we build for in Reservoir

What the local business mix means for your website.

Reservoir's small businesses are mainly local-service businesses: long-established cafés, bakeries, butchers and grocers on Edwardes Street and Broadway, hairdressers and beauty salons, pharmacies and allied health clinics, childcare, tutoring and a large number of home-based trades and home services. Many have run for decades on word of mouth and walk-in trade. The website's job is to make that reputation visible to the newer households moving in, who search on a phone before they walk down the strip.

Trades, cleaners, gardeners and removalists based in Reservoir work across Darebin and the neighbouring northern suburbs, from Preston and Thornbury to Bundoora, Thomastown and Epping, so their websites compete with Melbourne-wide operators for the same “near me” searches. The Newlands Road workshops and suppliers serve other businesses as much as households, and need the practical details a trade customer checks first: what they stock or do, hours, access and who to call.

The page plan

What Reservoir websites need to get right

We build these into the page plan when they apply to your business.

  • A service-area section that names the Darebin and northern suburbs you genuinely cover: Reservoir, Preston, Thornbury, Bundoora, Kingsbury, Thomastown and Lalor
  • Opening hours, parking and a map link for shopfront businesses, visible without scrolling on a phone
  • For long-established businesses, a short history and real photos of the shop and the people, because that is what new residents are looking for
  • Registrations and checks shown plainly for childcare, tutoring and health services, and licence details for licensed trades

Working together

Getting around Reservoir, and how we work with you

Where it is

About 12 km north of the CBD, in City of Darebin, part of Northern Melbourne.

How customers reach you

Reservoir, Regent and Ruthven stations are all on the Mernda line, and the suburb is crossed by High Street, Plenty Road, Broadway and Edwardes Street, with the Western Ring Road along its northern edge. Most customers arrive by car or on foot from nearby streets, so parking notes and the nearest cross street matter more than a long directions page. Trades that also cover Preston, Coburg or the growth suburbs further north should say so in their service-area section.

How we work together

Briefing, feedback, approvals and handover happen online by video call, phone, email and shared documents. A call can be arranged whenever it helps.

My shop has been on Edwardes Street for 30 years. Do I really need a website?

If new residents cannot find you on a phone, they often do not know you exist. A small site with your hours, what you sell, real photos, a map link and a phone number, matched to a Google Business Profile, is enough. It does not replace walk-in trade; it brings in the people who moved here last year.

Should my website say Reservoir or Darebin?

Use the suburb names customers search, such as “plumber Reservoir” or “physio Preston”, and keep Darebin for the council. A single service-area section that lists the suburbs you genuinely cover is more useful than repeating the council name, and it matches what you set on a Google Business Profile.

I run a workshop on Newlands Road and most of my customers are other businesses. What should the site show?

The practical details a trade buyer checks before ringing: what you make, stock or repair, trading hours, where you are with access and parking notes, and a direct contact. A clear five-page site with those answers does more for a business-to-business operator than a large brochure site nobody updates.

How much does a website cost for a Reservoir business?

The same as anywhere in Melbourne: A$169, A$299 or A$449, paid once, for up to 3, 5 or 8 pages. Domain, hosting and paid third-party tools are separate. Brand Launch, with a logo, website and first-year domain and hosting, starts at A$599.
