Websites for US small businesses by industry

Each package starts from a page structure built for the industry. NDIS pages are left out here because the NDIS is an Australian scheme.

What a remote studio in Melbourne does differently

Overnight progress

Melbourne is 14 to 19 hours ahead of the mainland US. Feedback you send in the afternoon arrives at the start of our working day, so revisions are often underway before you are back at your desk.

Published prices, no subscription

You see the package price before you send a brief, you pay once, and you keep the website. Hosting and domain are yours to choose and own.

One accountable studio

A fixed scope, set revision rounds and launch assistance from one studio, instead of piecing a site together from separate freelance gigs.

You keep the website

Once the project is paid, the finished website is yours, and your domain and hosting stay in accounts you control.

How a US project runs across time zones

Written checkpoints replace daily meetings. Most standard websites are ready within 5–7 business days after we receive your content.

  1. Send your brief online

Choose a package and describe your business, services and service area. No payment is taken with your brief.

  2. Get a written scope and total

We confirm pages, inclusions, timeline, currency and the total before any work starts.

  3. Design and build while you sleep

Work happens during the Melbourne day, which is your evening and night, with progress shared in writing.

  4. Review on your schedule, then launch

Send consolidated feedback when it suits you, approve the result and receive launch assistance and handover.

Details US small business websites should get right

Practical points we plan for with US clients. They are part of the page plan, not legal advice.

Accessibility basics

Clear headings, labeled forms, image alt text and readable contrast help every visitor. A formal WCAG audit or ADA legal advice is not included.

Your service area, stated honestly

List the cities, counties or states you really serve. We don't create near-identical city pages to chase rankings.

Consistent local listings

Your business name, phone and hours should match your Google Business Profile and other listings.

A privacy policy page

If your forms collect personal information, include a privacy policy. We lay out the page; the wording should come from you or your adviser.

Choosing a web designer in the USA

Compare the three-year cost

A US$65-a-month website subscription adds up to US$2,340 over three years before setup fees. A one-time build plus your own hosting is often less, if you rarely change the site.

Get the scope in writing

Know who supplies copy, images and access, how many revision rounds are included and what happens when something is late.

Keep ownership of your domain

Register the domain in your own name and confirm who owns the design, code and paid licenses after the final payment.

Ask how time zones are handled

A remote partner should explain when you get updates and how quickly questions are answered, not just promise to be available.

Who this service suits

  • Contractors and home service companies
  • Consultants and professional services
  • Independent clinics, wellness and fitness businesses
  • Startups and new brands that need a logo and website

US web design questions

Is SIX9 Design located in the United States?

No. SIX9 Design is based in Melbourne, Australia and works with US clients remotely. We don't have a US office or US staff.

Is a US$169 website a cheap website?

It is a small, fixed scope rather than a cut-price template: up to three custom responsive pages, a contact form, page titles and descriptions, one revision round and launch assistance. Domain and hosting are paid separately, and bigger sites use the Growth (from US$279) or Advanced (from US$449) package.

How do payments and currency work?

Prices on the US site are shown in US dollars. No payment is taken with your brief. Your written quote confirms the scope, currency, any applicable tax and the total before any work starts.

How do time-zone differences work?

Melbourne is 14 to 19 hours ahead of the mainland US, depending on your time zone and daylight saving. The project runs on written checkpoints, and when a call helps, late afternoon in the US is early morning in Melbourne.

Do you build contractor, clinic and restaurant websites?

Yes. There are packages for contractors and trades, dental practices, restaurants and cafés, real estate agents, fitness businesses, artists and service businesses, each with page structures suited to the industry.

Can you create US city pages for my business?

Only when your business genuinely serves those places and each page has something useful and different to say. We do not publish mass doorway pages or pretend SIX9 has local US offices.

Pricing, explained

Why a custom website can cost US$169 here

Most US small-business websites are quoted in the thousands, so a published price this low deserves an explanation. It comes from how the work is scoped, not from cutting corners.

Typical small-business website prices in the US
OptionTypical priceWhat you are paying for
DIY website builderMonthly subscriptionYour own time to design, write and maintain the site
FreelancerUS$500–5,000 (typical range)Varies widely by experience, scope and platform

Market ranges are typical figures, not quotes. See the website cost guide for the full breakdown and a cost estimator.

What keeps the price down

  • A fixed scope: pages, features and revision rounds are written down before work starts.
  • You supply the words, photos and logo, so there is no copywriting or photo shoot in the price.
  • A small remote studio in Melbourne: no sales team, no account managers, no office in your city to pay for.
  • No monthly plan: you pay once, and hosting and your domain are billed by those providers.

What is not in the fixed price

  • Domain, hosting and paid third-party apps.
  • Copywriting, photography and stock images.
  • Search engine campaigns, ads and ongoing maintenance retainers.
  • Custom features such as integrations, member areas or a booking system: these are quoted.

Honest fit

When SIX9 is not the right choice

We would rather tell you now than halfway through a project.

Hire someone else if you need…

  • A WordPress, Shopify or Webflow site you plan to manage in that platform.
  • A monthly SEO, Google Ads or social media management retainer.
  • Someone who can meet you in person or visit your premises.
  • A formal ADA compliance audit or legal certification (that is a job for an accessibility specialist).

We are a good fit if you want…

  • A custom-designed site at a fixed price you can see before you commit.
  • Written checkpoints and preview links instead of long meetings.
  • To own the finished website once it is paid for.
  • One studio for the website, the brand and the automation behind it.
Working with a studio in another country is a real trade-off. Read how remote web design works for US businesses, including time zones, USD invoicing and what happens after launch.

US requirements

Accessibility, email and privacy in the US

These notes are general information, not legal advice. Your business decides its obligations; we build the site to support them.

Accessibility (ADA)

  • US courts have applied the ADA to business websites, and WCAG 2.1 AA is the usual reference.
  • Every build uses semantic headings, labeled form fields and contrast checks as a baseline.
  • Read the plain-English ADA website accessibility guide.

Email and forms (CAN-SPAM)

  • Marketing email needs a clear sender, a physical address and a working unsubscribe.
  • Contact forms ask only for what you need to reply.
  • We can connect forms to the email tool you already use.

Privacy policies

  • Most small-business sites need a privacy policy that matches what the forms and analytics collect.
  • Some states (such as California) add rules once a business reaches certain thresholds.
  • You supply or approve the policy wording; we place and link it.
