What you still pay for — and a realistic first year

A low build price only helps if the running costs are clear too. These items are not in any website package, so they are listed up front.

  • Domain and hosting fees
  • Paid booking tools, external subscriptions and API usage
  • Custom CRM, payments or complex software
  • Copywriting, photography and ongoing SEO campaigns

How we keep it affordable

Why the price can be this low

There is no trick and no monthly lock-in. The price reflects a tightly defined scope and a studio set up to deliver it efficiently.

  1. Page structures planned for your industry
Each industry starts from a page plan we have already thought through — what a tradie, café or clinic visitor needs to see — then we design it around your brand and content.
  2. You supply the words and images
Copywriting and photography are the most expensive parts of many website quotes. Supplying them yourself keeps the build price down.
  3. Feedback in consolidated rounds
You collect your changes into one list per round (1, 2 or 3 rounds by package), which keeps the work focused and the price fixed.
  4. A small studio that works online
Briefs, reviews, approvals and launch all happen online, so less of your budget goes on meetings and travel.

Before you pay anyone

Cheap or affordable? Six checks for any quote

Use these with any provider — including us. A good quote answers all six in writing.

  1. Who owns the site and the accounts?
Ask whether the domain, hosting and site files are in your name. With SIX9: Once the project is fully paid, the finished website is yours, subject to any third-party platform or licence restrictions.
  2. Is there a lock-in or monthly fee?
Some low prices are recovered through contracts or hosting you cannot move. SIX9 has no monthly fee for a website package.
  3. What counts as a page?
A “page” can mean a whole page or one section. Ask for the page list. Our packages name the page count: up to 3, 5 or 8.
  4. How many revision rounds?
If a quote offers unlimited revisions, ask what they cover and for how long. Ours is 1, 2 or 3 consolidated rounds.
  5. Are the search basics included?
Every page should have a unique title and description. Growth and Advanced add on-page SEO, a sitemap and performance checks.
  6. Is GST included, and what happens after launch?
Some providers show prices with GST, others without. Ask. Also ask what support and changes cost after the site goes live.

Honest fit

When A$169 is the wrong choice

An affordable website is right for a lot of small businesses, but not all of them. Here is when we would point you somewhere else.

  1. You need an online store with many products
Catalogues, payments and stock management are quoted as custom software, not squeezed into a website package.
  2. You need us to write everything
Packages use your supplied content. If you also need a logo and brand, Brand Launch adds identity, copy direction on the Complete tier, and first-year domain and hosting.
  3. You want to edit the site yourself every week
A drag-and-drop builder may suit you better. Our Advanced package includes one editable collection, but Launch and Growth are not self-edit builders.
  4. You need bookings, a CRM or client logins
These connect to paid tools or custom code. Describe them in your brief and we quote them separately, or see AI automation.

How much does a small business website cost in Australia?

SIX9 Design builds small-business websites for A$169 (up to 3 pages), A$299 (up to 5 pages) or A$449 (up to 8 pages), paid once. Across the Australian budget providers we checked on 25 September 2026, published starting prices ran from A$250 to A$1,895, and one Melbourne agency says its packages typically start around A$5,000. Domain and hosting are extra with SIX9, while some budget providers bundle them for the first year.

Is a A$169 website a cheap website?

It is a small, fixed scope rather than a cut-down one: up to 3 custom responsive pages, a contact form, page titles and descriptions, one consolidated revision round and launch assistance. It stays affordable because you supply the words and images, the page structure is already planned for your industry, and changes are grouped into one review round.

Do your prices include GST?

SIX9 Design isn't registered for GST, so no GST is added to our prices. Prices are in Australian dollars, and your written quote confirms the total before any work starts. No payment is taken when you send a brief.

Do I own the website?

Once the project is fully paid, the finished website is yours, subject to any third-party platform or licence restrictions.

How long does it take?

Most standard websites are ready within 5–7 business days after we receive your content, images, access and project details. Your turnaround starts once we’ve got everything needed to get cracking.

Are domain and hosting included?

No. You register the domain and choose the hosting plan, so the accounts stay in your name and you are never tied to us for renewals. We tell you what the site needs and help connect everything at launch. If you want the domain and first year of hosting bundled, our Brand Launch packages include them.

Can I add pages later?

Yes. Move up to Growth (up to 5 pages) or Advanced (up to 8 pages); bigger sites and changes after launch are quoted separately before any work starts.

Do you work with businesses outside Melbourne?

Yes. We are based in Melbourne and work with small businesses across Australia. Briefing, reviews, approvals and launch are all handled online, so you never need to visit a studio.
