Sunshine is the main centre of the City of Brimbank and one of the busiest hubs in Melbourne's west. The suburb takes its name from H.V. McKay's Sunshine Harvester Works, once one of Australia's largest manufacturers, and industry is still a big part of the area in Sunshine North and Sunshine West.
