Web design South Yarra

South Yarra is one of Melbourne's densest inner suburbs, with 25,028 residents at the 2021 census in apartments and terraces either side of Punt Road, which splits it between the City of Stonnington and the City of Melbourne. Its business life runs along Chapel Street and Toorak Road, shopping and dining strips that have followed the tram lines since 1888, with the Jam Factory, the station precinct and Commercial Road at the Prahran end, and the Royal Botanic Gardens and Fawkner Park on the quieter western side. Fashion, hospitality, fitness, beauty and creative agencies set the tone, and almost every business here is a short walk from several direct competitors.

Businesses we build for in South Yarra

What the local business mix means for your website.

South Yarra's small businesses are hospitality and lifestyle first: restaurants, bars and cafés on Chapel Street, Toorak Road and the side streets, fashion and homewares boutiques, hairdressers, beauty and cosmetic clinics, gyms, pilates and yoga studios and personal trainers, with allied health, dental and medical practices, real estate agencies, design and marketing studios and consultants in the offices above and behind the shops. Customers are young, mobile and comparing on a phone, often while already walking the strip.

Because competition is a few doors away, the website's job is to answer the deciding questions fast: what it is, what it costs, whether there is a table, class or appointment available, and how to book. For venues that means a readable text menu, hours that match Google and a booking link; for studios, a timetable and a first-class offer; for clinics and professional practices, who the practitioners are, what they do, and an enquiry path that works on a phone.

The page plan

What South Yarra websites need to get right

We build these into the page plan when they apply to your business.

  • The practical details first: hours, the nearest tram stop or station, parking, and a booking or enquiry button visible without scrolling on a phone
  • A text menu, price list or timetable that loads fast, rather than a PDF or an image
  • For clinics and regulated practitioners, factual service descriptions and practitioner registrations, with AHPRA advertising rules in mind
  • Hours and address that match your Google Business Profile exactly, because most South Yarra searches start with the map

Working together

Getting around South Yarra, and how we work with you

Where it is

About 4 km south-east of the CBD, in City of Stonnington (east of Punt Road) and City of Melbourne, part of Eastern Melbourne.

How customers reach you

South Yarra station serves the Sandringham, Frankston, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, the route 58 tram runs along Toorak Road and the route 78 along Chapel Street, and parking is scarce, so most customers arrive by tram, train, foot or rideshare. Say which stop or entrance you are nearest to; for a business that also serves Prahran, Windsor, Toorak or Richmond, name those suburbs in your service-area or “find us” section rather than leaving them out.

How we work together

Briefing, feedback, approvals and handover happen online by video call, phone, email and shared documents. A call can be arranged whenever it helps.

There are a dozen cafés within two blocks of mine. What should the website do differently?

Answer the deciding questions on the first screen: what you serve, when you are open, whether you take bookings and how, and real photos of the room and the food. Keep the menu as text so it reads on a phone and in search, and keep the hours identical to your Google Business Profile. People choosing between nearby venues rarely read past the first screen.

My studio runs classes. Should the website show the full timetable?

Yes, as text or an embedded timetable from the booking tool you already use, with the price of a casual class and the intro offer beside it. A timetable that lives only on Instagram or in an app does not appear in search, and a new customer comparing three studios on a phone will pick the one that shows times and prices without a sign-up.

Should my website say South Yarra, Prahran or Stonnington?

Use the suburb names customers search, such as “pilates South Yarra” or “physio Prahran”, and keep Stonnington for the council. If you sit near the Chapel Street and Commercial Road corner, mention both South Yarra and Prahran. One clear “find us” section that names the suburbs you serve matches what you set on a Google Business Profile.

How much does a website cost for a South Yarra business?

The same as anywhere in Melbourne: A$169, A$299 or A$449, paid once, for up to 3, 5 or 8 pages. Domain, hosting and paid third-party tools are separate. Brand Launch, with a logo, website and first-year domain and hosting, starts at A$599.

Do you have an office in South Yarra?

No. SIX9 Design is one Melbourne studio. Projects for South Yarra businesses run online, by video call, phone, email and shared documents, so nobody has to take time off site to travel.
